I have a new friend. He is a legend. Only 14 men over the last 130 years have played more rugby matches for Wales. He has been the toughest of all. Americans find his position of Hooker amusing. But if your saw him scrummage and tackle you wouldn’t laugh!  He is the last coal miner to play for Wales. Garin played in 3 World Cups.  His finest hour was the beating of the World Champion Team South Africa (yes not long after Invictus) in 1999.

Here’s the thing. Garin may be the only known Christian to have attained this standard. I have prayed for 30 years for a Garin.  It’s quite a story how we got to team up. But I can say that we have a mutual team before even our beloved Wales. Jesus is our bond, our captain, our song.

There’s a story to follow, I expect. In the meantime Garin knows that I may remember as much about his games as he does. Mind you, he was the one who was being knocked about not me.

The beach is always a friend to us. We are getting recharged and ready for Sunday! Please pray for us as I lost my voice for 6 days.

I am excited about our new series “Bank on it.” We’re going to get some ancient wisdom, including two messages each from David and Solomon from the book of Chronicles. These men are great guides as we determine how to make it through the recession. We will get practical, spiritual, and from the very first message, lay down a big challenge for us as a Church. We’ll measure our progress each week.

I have asked our members to be faithful in assembling for ALL of August. Please invite a friend! It is said that 85% of people attend a Church because a friend invited them, but 80% of the unchurched say that no one has invited them yet! Only 21% of active church members invite anyone to church in a year!

Also pray for me. We have the inflatable pigs ready (really!), now we need a Pastor prayed for and anointed, and a people renewed and ready.
